Lastly, evaluate the environmental initiatives taken by the institution for sustainability and international outlook.

Though flexible in nature, it has received some criticism due to the implementation of the “Melbourne Model” of the University of Melbourne. Critics claimed it prolongs the time for students to focus on a particular area in contrast to the non-linear model such as Monash University double degree programs.
If we are comparing universities, it is not limited just to rankings. Even though the University of Melbourne is well ranked, it is crucial to consider beyond rankings. For instance, Caltech, despite lower overall rankings, offers a smaller class size, intense academic rigor and focused STEM education. So while making a decision, it is crucial to consider the factors when choosing such as career goals, learning style preferences, demand for overseas experience and concern with research positions.
You should know that rankings do not reflect how hard it is to get into a college or how easy it is to graduate. While some universities such as Melbourne might have relatively low admission standards, their graduation standards could be rigid.
